Just under the wire!

Beth had the great idea to put up a collection station at my office building to help out with the food drive. I called my building manager and got permission to set it up in the lobby.

I got the station all set up just under the wire because the building's annual coffee bar event was taking place the following day and all the tenants in the building come to the lobby to have free coffee courtesey of the management company.

After everything was said and done, I collected 65 pounds of food from my building. I was quite pleased.

As I left my office on Christmas Eve, I realized that I still have all the collected food sitting in my living room, it was 1pm. I called the food bank and they informed me that they would be closing at 2pm. The San Diego Food Bank is 10 miles from my house. I loaded up my truck, and made the trek thru holiday traffic and arrived, just under the wire, to drop it off.

My stroll down Ave. Z is much lighter now. Very happy to help out my favorite Ave. Z girl.

Wanted to update you from a Denver high school...

My students brought in a total of 47 cans, adding to those collected by the student council.

To say a bit about our school, a few students who helped organize the drive asked if they could bring a few home because they needed them (our school has greater than 75% of the students on free and reduced lunch).

From a single mom, who've had to rely on the food banks this year due to relocating and a slow economy.

I want to say on behalf of the recipients from your efforts and other food banks.

We deeply appreciate it, without there'd be a lot of hungry children.

Congratulations and thanks for letting me be a part of it! You are amazing! I'm so excited that the bin in the Pink Palace is almost full! My heart went out to all the homeless people I saw soaked in yesterday's rain storm. At least we'll be helping fill their tummies. There's an Indigo Girls' lyric that rings true to me '...street person my responsibility, if I have a care in the world, I have a gift to bring...' It warms my heart to see so many generous people being active. Happy Holidays, everyone!

I just popped in and saw your message. I retweeted it @avenuez and there is hope! Hey...you might want to use DISQUS for your comments. I started doing that a couple weeks ago and now people don't have to put all that info every time they comment. (Reminds me - time to listen to Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme)! Happy Tuesday! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year! Almost forgot - I won a trip - Wife & I are going to the Bahamas - if we can get passport in time! :-)

This is so great, Beth! Congrats on all you've accomplished. Just think of all the people you're helping around the country. You're a great motivator. :)
