WalkstationAvenue Z is coming to you live from my favorite coffee shop this morning. I wanted to get an early start on the day’s tasks, but really I needed to get out of the house.

In my new perfect office in my new perfect apartment, I have the world’s best office desk. It’s a beautiful cherry (-looking — I don’t know what it is) desk with elegant lines and a stately look. I have a great office chair that sidles up to it, and my wireless keyboard and mouse are perfectly placed in front of the two monitors I use to work.

The only problem: it’s all too tall! I had to raise my chair to reach the desk, and my feet barely hit the floor. I’m trying a printer stand under my feet, but that’s not really working. And I have to sit so far up in the chair that I’m now using two pillows behind my back. The configuration makes my shoulders ache, my lower back cramp and my wrists throb. This makes me even sadder because D.J. (my boyfriend) gave me the desk for my new office, and I always think of him when I use it.

Dang! I’m going to have to go back to a dang old cheap Ikea piece like my first desk. I guess I need something made for all-day typing, not just something made to be gorgeous. Or better yet, I want to switch to a Walkstation by a company called details. But they don’t even list the price on their site. That’s not a good sign.
