Killer CookiesA couple of days ago I was running errands on a main drag here in San Diego. As I was waiting at a light, a sign in the window of a strip mall caught my eye.

KILLER COOKIES

That’s all it said. KILLER COOKIES in red Neon. I have to tell you that I almost stopped, and I’ve been on a diet since time began.

This, my friends, is great advertising and amazing marketing.

The place looked like it was nothing special. I think it was called Uncle Biff’s or something, surely not a really strong name. But that one sign seemed to say that this place was different and would sincerely offer you KILLER COOKIES. After all, if they didn’t offer KILLER COOKIES, would they spend money to create a red Neon KILLER COOKIES sign?

As a freelance copywriter, I write a lot of marketing copy. I found myself asking how often I came up with KILLER COOKIES killer copy. I need to strive to raise the bar of my writing to make sure I’m providing my clients with something that says KILLER COOKIES. Perhaps I’ll put it on my New Years Resolutions.

By the way, if anyone’s wondering what to get me for Christmas, the KILLER COOKIES place is on University in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Just a thought.
