In advance of my newsletter rant

My next Avenue Z eNewsletter will focus on …. Ummm….
eNewsletters. Since I started working for myself, I’ve signed up for at least a
dozen electronic newsletters from self-proclaimed industry leaders. In many
cases, I’ve been sorely disappointed by the content, with headlines like “I’m
about to give you the secret to success!” with content revealing the answer as
“Use my services and you’ll be the best!” Those types of thinly veiled
advertisements insult their subscribers’ intelligence and really irritate me.

That being said, Bencivenga
Bullets: Gary Bencivenga’s Free E-Letter of Response-Boosting Secrets,
is definitely worth reading. This week he’s a little long-winded, and it takes
a while to get to the heart of his point, but he offers solid advice in a
straight-forward format. And besides, I admire his ability to work an
unworkable last name into his E-Letter title. I chickened out on getting the
world to look forward to the “Ziesenis Monthly.”
